Hello all,

if I have to perform changes in a crypto map of a VPN and has to be done for the changes to apply immediately?

Let's say that I have to change settings regarding the PFS DH group choice.

The timing of effects of making changes in a crypto map does need some consideration. We generally expect that with Cisco devices when we make a change in configuration that the change will be effective immediately. But with IPSec VPN the crypto map is used only when it is time to negotiate new Security Associations. So if you make a change in the crypto map configuration and there are active SAs then the SAs are operating with the old parameters. To make your changes effective immediately then after you make the configuration changes you would need to clear the crypto SAs.
