I installed ciscoworks 2.2 with SP3 using VMS 2.3 CD . I installed router MC, IDS MC, Secmon, etc using VMS 2.3. I logged into ciscoworks but can not find IPSMC. I found IDSMC but no IPSMC . According to VMS 2.3 CDm IPSMC is included in the install. Anyidea how do i install or get IPSMC ? Thanks

You can upgrade to IPSMC, the below link has the installation notes.

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/mgt_ids/idsmc21/cmrn21.htm#wp1145414

The MC application updates can be downloaded in cco software centre.

Hi Jonathan,

I already have VMS 2.3 CD but it did not have IPSMC ? is above link you mention same as VMS 2.3 CD? I have IDSMC but no IPSMC . Thanks

Im not sure but I think the IPSMC 2.1 may have been released after the 2.3 CD was shipped. Therefore the updated IPSMC is on the link provided by the previous post. I would check what version of the IDSMC you have. You may have the IPSMC installed but do not have "service pack 1 for IPSMC 2.1" installed. There was a bug fix in sp1 that changed the name from IDSMC to IPSMC in various locations in the GUI. See below (from the sp1 readme):

* CSCsb12401 ("MC 2.1 : Several Places still referring to IDS instead of IPS")

There are several areas in the UI addressed by this bug :

click on the About link on the top right corner of MC main screen.

Configuration>Settings>Signature Wizard > IPS 4.x > Alert Behavior step

Configuration>Settings>Signature Wizard > IOS IPS > Alert Behavior step

Configuration -> Compare -> select any of the compare option, on the

summary page, click on 'Print Friendly Version', the configDiffPrintResult

screen pops up.

Deployment -> Deploy, the description page

Devices main tab, the description page

Deployment ->Deploy -> Job Management, the job table page

Configuration -> Settings -> EventActions (IPS 5.x) -> Action Overrides

Configuration -> Settings -> Signatures -> Miscellaneous (IPS 5.x)

Configuration -> Updates -> Update Network IDS/IPS Signatures -> Submit

Configuration -> Updates, the description screen

SP1 can be found here: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mgmt-ctr-ids-app

Hope this helps
