Hello Community,
Maybe somebody can shed some light about these obsolete Firepower units. We have removed them from production because according to cisco announcement the last security update will be delivered only until the end of Aug 2025.
But I am regular getting notifications about new updates, is it really obsolete or not?
Cheers,
Oleksandr

@anazarenko the 4100 series hardware EOL notification was only announced in July 2025 - it's still in support for a quite a while yet though.

@anazarenko you will continue to see SRU and LSP updates for Snort 2 and Snort 3 respectively since those are common across all Cisco FTD devices - both obsolete and new ones. The same goes for VDB and Geolocation content updates.
You won't see new software post-7.0.x/7.2.x for the 4140, but you may see patches within those release since the software image (e.g., Cisco_FTD_SSP_Patch-7.2.10.2-2.sh.REL.tar) is also common across other still-supported models like the 4145 hardware.
So, basically, you can theoretically benefit from the fact that some current images will continue to work on the 4140. However, since your software subscription entitlement should have expired with the Last Date of Support, you technically are not entitled to run the content updates.
