Hi,
I'm quite new to Cisco.
I'm trying to register an ASA5512-X.
I entered my PAK, then, to assign a device, I'm asked to enter a license key (!!!) whilst I'm here to get one!
I tried to enter the serial number of my device which have been refused.
I'm trying to find "the License Key visible on your Licensing console", but from ASDM, I don't get the info.
Could someone guide me ?
Thanks

Hi,
The PAK is used to generate a license key. The license key is tied to a serial number of the device.
So you just need to go to cisco.com/go/license and use your PAK and serial number to generate a license key.
here are the links that you can use:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa95/configuration/general/asa-95-general-config/intro-license.html#ID-2148-00000b1f
https://tools.cisco.com/SWIFT/LicensingUI/Quickstart
Hope it helps!!!
Thanks,
R.Seth

Thank you risseth & johnlloyd_13 for your answers, but it didn't work for me.
My PAK leads to this screen:
then to this one:
Maybe the point is that my PAK is for FirePOWER.
When I follow the link "How to get this" I'm redirected to this page : https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12196841/sourcefire-how-get-license-key-defense-center
I don't know what is the defense center and when I read the procedure, I'm not sure I've been sold the right thing for I don't have any virtual environnement to deploy a VM on...
Do you have any suggestion ?
Many thanks!

Hi,
FirePOWER is a security service that you can run on top of ASA5500-x device. The DefenceCenter/FireSIGHT is a management solution for FirePOWER service.
Probably you are right, you might be having PAK for wrong device, you should cross check with your vendor.
Hope it Helps!!!
Thanks,
R.Seth

hi,
based on the PAK/SKU it's for firepower upgrade license. see link:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/asa-5500-x-series-next-generation-firewalls/guide-c07-732249.pdf?keycode=000035512
what feature or license are you trying to achieve on your 5512-X?
i suggest contacting TAC licensing team (if 5512x is under smartnet) to further assist you.

Hi,
I purchased a "SEC-plus" license to have HA (I have two 5512-X) and to establish 50 AnyConnect VPN.
I just asked my reseller to provide me the associated PAK.
I hope, the registering will be more simpler, requiring only the equipment S/N... :-)
Thanks

Once you have correct PAK, just follow the steps mentioned above to obtain license keys.
Thanks,

hi,
use the serial number on the show version output to register PAK on cisco portal.
the serial number on show inventory is used to register for smartnet.
see useful link:
