Hello @Vishal6,

for Meraki devices the rule is very simple.

You need a license for every single device.

HTH!

Unless there is anything special with EA (and I don't assume this as it's more how you buy these licenses), you only need one license for an MX system in warmspare config. The general rule doesn't apply to MX warm spare.

So i need only one quantity of

Meraki MX Large Essentials EA 3.0 LIC and Support

Yes. I just checked the official documentation and this is indeed an exception to the general rule.

You can confirm this at the 2nd paragraph of the MX Warm Spare - High-Availability Pair documentation as well as checking the latest version of the Meraki Licensing FAQs.

For MX105 in a warm spare setup, you generally need a license for each device. Each unit operates independently and requires its own license to remain fully functional when active. So you should have licenses assigned to both MX105 devices.

No, would be true for Cisco FTD, but not for the MX.

I know that Cisco keeps continously repeating the general rule for Meraki devices - 1 device : 1 license.

However, no rule without exception and for this setup only 1 license is needed for sure.
