Hi macboy276,
1st I would save both configurations to a notepad file and perhaps print out a hard copy for reference.
The 5505 uses vlans for connectivity while the 5512 could use vlans but may not need vlans due to multiple (assume) routed interfaces. I would draw the connections out and try to understand the layer-2 and layer-3 topologies before changing.
I would also verify licensing between the 2 ASAs to avoid surprises.
Hope this helps
Frank

Hi,
To be honest , you would see many changes between the two devices.
Most Important one would be with the interfaces on the ASA device. The 5505 uses switch interfaces whereas the ASA 5512 uses all Layer 3 interfaces.
Other than that the difference is on the basis of the IOS code you are running on the devices.
If you were running something higher than 8.4 on 5505 , you would not find that many differences between the two devices in terms of the commands..
Thanks and Regards,
