Network security presentation topics?

Hi everyone,

I’m a new cybersecurity analyst, and I’ve been tasked with creating a presentation on network security. The main focus is on configuration, setup, best practices, or technologies expected to emerge in 2024. relevant topics in CCNA may also be included

Any suggestions on what topics should I cover for the presentation?

thanks in advance!

This can be a very large topic so it depends on how many slides you are permitted for the presentation and the content might be dependent on your office setup (i.e. what topics are relevant for you).

Here are some Ideas you might consider presenting:

  • Local LAN security - Zero trust / SDA / 802.1x, Firewalling (access rules, IPS), Network segmentation, ARP inspection, Port security, Visibility / logging, User security training, etc.
  • Remote access - RA VPN (AnyConnect, 2factor authentication), Site to site VPN, Cloud (AWS, Azure, GWS, etc.)
  • Artificial Intelligence - best practices for using AI

When it comes to CCNA you need to decide if you are just doing an overview of the certification topics or a small deep dive into specific topics.  I would suggest looking at the blueprint and then focus on the topics you consider relevant.  There is a lot of information in the certifications so deep dive might not be the right approach for this presentation.

Intro to network security / threats...  depending on no of slides, you can talk firewalls, VPN, ACL, NAT etc.  For emerging zero trust (ztna), AI / machine learning - AI assistant, SASE etc..
