Has anyone used the new 8.3 version on cisco firewalls.I wanted to know the main features with this new version and any bugs encountered, with a possible facts to decide whether i should go for an upgrade from my current versions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I've been using the 8.3 code recently.
It completely changes the configuration for NAT, major changes in ACLs behavior and more object-oriented structure.
As far as the caveats, you can check all the information here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa83/release/notes/asarn83.html
Keep in mind that depending on the model of the ASA, you need a memory upgrade to run 8.3 (details on the above link as well).
You can safely upgrade a lab ASA to 8.3 (even if it does not meet the memory requirements) to play with it, but a production ASA, make sure you meet the memory requirements prior to the upgrade.
Federico.
