I Purchased and installed new PIX 501 about two weeks ago. Along with some excellent board help, It is working great. I see on this board that there are referneces to PDM v 6.(3).3. I have v 6.(3).1. If I should upgrade, please tell me where to get the newer version, and please how to install it. Thank you very much.

When to upgrade is a descision you need to base on your own requirements. Some people upgrade as soon as a release is available, so people wait.
To get to software, you login to CCO and follow the links to
Technical Support, Software Center, Cisco Secure Software, Cisco Secure Pix Firewall Software
This takes you to a page with links to downloading software, and to documenation, including release notes.
This link is at:
http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/sw-center/ciscosecure/pix.shtml
The release notes for 6.3.1-3 are located at
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_sw/v_63/63rnotes/index.htm
You can read them to find out what fixes are in 6.3.3

mvoight Thank you for your prompt reply. I tried the download link you listed, but the reply was that my login is invalid. I am logged in here, as I am able to post to the board. Is this login different than your mention of CCO login? If it is different, please tell me what I need to do to get registered there. I purchased my PIX from Securemart, a Cisco registered reseller, unit is only two weeks old. Yes, if possible I would like to install the newer version. Again thanks for all of your help.

At the top of http://www.cisco.com/ (aka CCO) there is a "register" link. On the registration form, there is an additional access section at the bottom. I believe you need a contract to download upgrades, however, if you are still under warranty, you can have TAC assist you with getting the software. You can open a TAC case via phone at 800-553-2447 or email at tac@cisco.com. Include your serial number with the request.
You can also open a case via http://www.cisco.com/techsupport/caseopen/ if you have a CCO login.

mvoight Thanks again for the reply. I think it should be under warranty, it is only two weeks old. I will call TAC at the number you provided. Thanks again for all your very much valued help.
