Question:

Is it possible to use a Solaris 8 IDSMC as an NTP server to the 4.X sensors?

It seems that the cisco sensors only want to connect to a cisco device....is there some way around this?

Also, if it is possible...how would you set up the IDSMC to not only be an NTP server to the sensors, but a client of another NTP server as well.

We only officially support/test sensor NTP with a Cisco router configured as an NTP server. However, in theory the sensor should be compatible with any NTP server configured with an authentication key. A workaround that some customers use is to point the sensors at a router configured as an NTP server, but associated with another (non-router) NTP server.
