Pix 506 Full Duplex

When I try to create my DMZ by placing an 8 port hub between my PIX 506 and Cisco 2600 series router I cannot get the PIX to link up. I thought I read something indicating that the 506 was set to auto-negotiate and was capable of Half Duplex communication. I havent tried to put a switch between the PIX and the Router to see if it gives me a link but even if it did I would not want to waste a switch to create my DMZ. Any suggestions?

I would manually configure the interfaces on the Router and the PIX to 10Mbps half-duplex. If this does not work I would check the cables. If it works I would then incresase the speed to 10 Mbps/Full duplex, and so on. But I do not agree with you not to use a switch to create the DMZ.
