PIX 506: PPP link down:Peer not responding

I continually find my dsl down at home. This is the log I get from the pix:

<163>Jan 16 2005 06:31:48: %PIX-3-403503:PPPoE:PPP link down:

<163>Jan 16 2005 06:31:48: %PIX-3-403503:PPPoE:PPP link down:Peer not responding

<163>Jan 16 2005 06:31:48: %PIX-3-403503:PPPoE:PPP link down:

<163>Jan 16 2005 06:31:48: %PIX-3-403503:PPPoE:PPP link down:LCP down

<163>Jan 16 2005 06:31:48: %PIX-3-403503:PPPoE:PPP link down:

<163>Jan 16 2005 06:31:48: %PIX-3-403503:PPPoE:PPP link down

I get the jist of what the error is saying. Is there a way to have the pix continually attempt to reconnect? To solve the problem all I have to do is reload the PIX and "shabang," its back up and running.

I am running 6.3.3 and am assuming its a problem with my providers equipment ultimately, but I would just like my PIX to be a little more robust in its attempts to reconnect. Is this possible?

Thanks a lot

Jeff

This is what the pix syslog message reference has to say:

403503

Error Message %PIX-3-403503: PPPoE:PPP link down:reason

Explanation The PPP link has gone down. There are many reasons why this could happen. The first format will display a reason if PPP provides one.

Recommended Action Check the network link to ensure that the link is connected. The access concentrator could be down. Ensure that your authentication protocol matches the access concentrator. Ensure that your name and password are correct. Check with your ISP or network support person.

Do you have the store-local option enabled on the vpdn username command? Also do you have auto update enabled on the pix?

If you do not use authentication for the PPPoE connection, or you do and everything seems to match, then I would contact your provider for help in determining why the connection keeps dropping.

Let me know how it proceeds from here.

Thanks for the reply. I do not have either of those commands in my config (store-local / auto-update). Can you explain a little about what each does? Also what else I would need to do to implement the auto-update service (looks like you need a server?).

Thanks

Jeff
