I was not able to get the commandline prompt thru hyperterminal. the only thing that comes from the PIX device is the PCI Device Table

Did you try another emulator such as SecureCRT?

No I didn't try that.
does it run on windows 2000?

I installed SecuredCRT and did the config
9600 N stop bit 1. I am still getting same thing. That is part of the PCI Device Table is displayed and the cursor just blinks. We just moved to a new location with the new outside interface IP given from ISP. we were trying to reconfigure the outside interface with the new IP

Can you ping the PIX internally? If not then I am thinking that there is a problem with the PIX it is not booting correctly. Did you also check the Status of the lamps on the PIX. Is continously blinking or active ?

ACT LED is off
Network LED Blinks
Power LED is ON
Ping fails.
The PCI Device Table starts listing on the terminal but somehow stops around the Ethernet details.

I suspect hardware problem and there no problem with the terminal. There is a problem with the PIX. What you can do is remove the power cord, open the cover, try to make sure all slots like RAM, FLASh and battery are well suited. Then try to trun the pix on again.
IF the above does not work this means you have to contact your reseller to replace it.
Please let me know what happens,
ACT off means the PIX is not online or active

I opened the box and everything is intact.

However,ACT is still off.

You PIX is hanging at an early stage. Not even trying to boot from flash.
One last thing you can try before going to the reseller to replace the pix. Open the box and there is a battery. Remove the battery for five minutes and remove the power cord aswell. Then insert the battery again and the power cord and try to boot up.
Let me know if it works,

I followed your instruction and it booted up
the ACT LED is on.
Thank you so much.
Now that the outside interface Ip has changed (due to location change) would it sufice to Issue the address command with the new Ip?

Happy to know everything is up. If your public subnet have changed you have to change the Outside IP, the default route and NATing on the PIX.
