PIX 515 Performance

Can anyone tell me what the performance statistics are for a PIX 515? I found the following for the newer PIX 515E but cannot find anything for the original 515 device. Also, are these numbers completely idealistic scenerios or do they hold up in real-world instances? The reason for my inquiry is that I am going to be upgrading from 6Mbps internet connection to a T3 (45Mbps) and do not know if the PIX is capabable of handling the increased load.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cleartext throughput: 188 Mbps

Concurrent connections: 130,000

168-bit 3DES IPsec VPN throughput: Up to 140 Mbps with VAC+ or 63 Mbps with VAC

128-bit AES IPsec VPN throughput: Up to 135 Mbps with VAC+

256-bit AES IPsec VPN throughput: Up to 140 Mbps with VAC+

Simultaneous VPN tunnels: 2000

The numbers you see on the data sheet are tested numbers for 1400 byte packets.

I referenced an old presentation and found the 515 was rated to 150 Mbps cleartext at 1400 byte packets. For smaller packets (meaning more overhead), the 515 could perform > 50 Mbps down to 300 byte packets.

So your 515 should be able to handle the load based on these cleartext numbers.

Please let me know if I can dig up any other details for you.
