Pix 515e memory

I wanted to increase memory from 64 to 128.  I removed 2x32 meg chips and added 1x128.  Show Mem command still shows 64 meg installed.  Do I need to have the second bank filled also before Pix will see the 128?

Hi.

do you have an unrestricted license? can you paste "show version" and "show memory" after you did the 128 mb upgrade?

I think that support only 64 MB in each slot.

"Two 168-pin DIMM RAM slots, supporting up to 64 MB memory maximum"

According to this link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa70/pix_upgrade/upgrade/guide/pixupgrd.html#wp1032446

you can only add TWO 64 MB to make it 128 MB - if it has R license.

If it has UR or FO license then you can add ONE 128 MB. What does your "sh ver" show?

This PIX has an Unrestricted (UR) license.

I'd suggest opening a TAC case and get it RMA-ed.

I'd like to but Cisco doesn't even make that chip any more.  I'll have to contact the vendor I purchased it from.  I think, though, that I'll do a failover and see what a show mem on the failover unit shows.  I prolly should've bought 64 meg chips but the number I got from the Cisco support tech was for the 128.
