PIX 535 interface issue

I have 2 535's in failover mode.  Last week the primary outside interface went into a line down state. No changes were made to any configurations and this had been running for years.  I have rebooted both PIX's and still get the same down state.

interface ethernet0 "outside" is up, line protocol is down

This connects into a 3500 series switch and the interface on the switch is in an UP/UP state.

Any Ideas?

Hello

I would check the following (In turn):

• Change the port on the switch
• Replace the cable
• Check for duplex/speed issues
• Check if that VLAN is active on the switch
• Check if the MAC is being learnt on the switch port (Firewall MAC)
• Clear the interface counters and look for anything peculiar there
