We have a 40 PC office with 4 switches. We are planning to go to a T1 connection to the internet.
My questions are as follows:
1) If we use a PIX 515 firewall, do we still need a router to hook to the T1 or can the T1 come to the firewall direct?
2) We need 5 or 6 public IP addresses that people will be calling in from outside to view certain equipment controllers with web-page capabilities. Would a 515 be able to allow that?
All comments and help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Mat.

Mat,
1) No, there are WAN interfaces on the PIX. Only ethernet so yes, you will need a router to terminate the T1 and drop ethernet to the outside of the PIX.
2) Yes. Absolutely. We do this on the PIX via the static command. Post a message once you get ready to setup the PIX and we can show you how this is done.
Welcome to the PIX world.

Scott,
Thanks. Boy this forum works slick! I am impressed.
One more question. What model Cisco router should we be looking at? Our traffic will probably never be more than 3 or 4 people logged on from the outside.
Thanks.

Thanks...we try ;)
The 1800 series is the model targetted at T1 connections. There are several different models in the 1800 series so you will probably want to contact your local friendly Cisco reseller for some assistance on picking the right one out.
Good luck!
