I am trying to configure a PIX Firewall cluster to send email alerts. I am 95% sure I have done it correctly but nothing is getting through.
This is what I have done sofar
logging mail informational
logging from-address ***-PIX-515E@****.com
logging recipient-address mark.hodge@****.com level critical
dns domain-lookup outside
dns name-server **.**.**.**
The sh log output shows that messages are being identified
Mail logging: level informational, 78057 messages logged
I suspect it is a DNS issue, as I cannot ping by fully qualified domain, e.g.
ping ftp.cisco.com
^
ERROR: % Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
I am running V7.0(4) software, are there any known bugs. I may have the oportunity to upgrade to V7.2 latter this week.

Have you defined an SMTP server?
smtp-server ip_address

Yes, sorry I missed that off my config samples. I don't have access to the SMTP server to know if it is relaying correctly, that would be my second guess for the cause of the issue.
