pix failover

Does the cisco pix failover works alone ?

Can I use it by itself without a primary firewall ?

Are there any docs in cisco that clarify this situation ?

if you mean a pix failover unit on it's own then it will work but it will reboot after 24 hours as it is not meant to run on it's own.

Howver If you have a primary and a failover unit and the primary fails then the failover will run as the primary indefinitely.
