PIX Firewall Syslog Server

Hi all,

I'm trying to use the pix firewall syslog server version 5.1(2) on win2k3 servers for my clients, it works great for two clients but for some reason fails on six others all with the same error message:

The PIX Firewall Syslog Server service has reported an invalid current state 0.

Does anyone know why the service keeps stopping?

Please try to verify if your server has enough disk space.If it has, try out another Syslog software.

yeah it has enough space, the service stops when I try "sc interrogate syslogd", but not with "sc query syslogd" I don't know why the service control managers are behaving differenly on these servers but it's very annoying.

I wrote a nice script to process the pfss logs so I don't want to change unless I have to and also one would expect the software from cisco should work.

Please help.

One would also expect to get what one pays for, and to the best of my knowledge, the pfss is free.

Try a Google search on kiwisyslog, visit their site, pay the ridiculously low price they ask, and be happy.
