PIX in Fail Over (FO) Mode

Need opinions on the best platform and hookup for PIX running in failover mode. We currently have two PIX515 in FO mode (using cable and Ethernet for the state). We have frequent lost of communications on the inside and outside I/F. So the boxes keep flip flopping. This happens every several days. Thanks

why?

what are the inside and outside interfaces plugged into?

if you want proper redundancy you should have

|Switch 1| -> | PIX | -> |Switch 3|

So Switch 1 and 2 are trunked/stacked together, and so are 3 and 4.

Is that what you have atm?
