I have configured my pix 525 version 7 to forward multicast traffic using the the multicast-routing command. This enables pim-sparse on the inside/outside interface by default.
An RP has been configured (lives on the internal network) with a access-list assigned to control which groups are allowed to pass from the outside in. The problem is the access-list does not seem to filter the MC groups and therfore all groups seem to get through and register themselves with the RP.
I have also removed the configuration of the RP on the Pix and expect the multicast to fail at this point, but it continues to work. I am under the impression the Sparse-mode requires the RP configuration in order to function, so why is this works without it?
Also the accept-register does not filter the incoming igmp ergister packets either.
