PIX501 Curious ping issue

Hello,

On a PIX501(6.2) with VPN Client (4.0.2), the Vpn connection is ok, but I encounter this problem :

- ping from client (192.168.229.1) to lan (192.168.42.x) fails.

BUT :

if I ping first from Lan (192.168.42.x) to client (192.168.229.1), then a ping from Client to Lan works.

Any idea about that ?

Your question is not very clear. But let me tell this which is most likely to make things clear:

When it is fully functional, inside host can ping inside interface of PIX, outside hosts cannot.

Also, by default, ping is disabled on outside interface of PIX.

Check the translations on the PIX.

How about the routing table on the PIX and the default gateway on the lan hosts?
