Hi,
I've been asked to look at an ASA that is having issues. I don't recall seeing port forwarders in flash before. Is this legit or some kind of hack?

Good call. They contacted me right after they restored with ASDM 6.4(5) on a 5520.
I've never had much luck with restores, so I always do them line by line or section by section.
Can I attribute any of the problems they are now claiming to this restore process?

Any issues on the ASA should not be the cause of this particular bug.
The issue with the bug is when restoring using ASDM 6.4.x, the temporary files (ja_PortForwarder.po) created didn't get deleted as part of the restore procedure. However, it should cause any issues on the ASA function itself.
You can manually delete those files as per the bug "Further Problem Description".
