problem in adding FTD in FMC

Hi

I have FMC version 6.2.3.7 and I add 4 firepower 8350 on it.

I have bought four FTD 4110 recently and I want to add them in my FMC, but when I want to add them, FMC show me below message:

“To add Firepower Threat Defense devices, register this console with the Smart Licensing Server.”

I have bought classic license for FTDs. I searched about this problem, but I don’t find the solution.

Do I have to buy smart license?

How can I add my FTDs without smart license(permanently/temporarily)?

Thanks

Hi,

To register FTD, you required smart license.

You can contact licensing@cisco.com to convert your existing license to smart.

Once license is activated in cisco smart account portal, generate a token from smart portal and add it in FMC. Then add your 4110 FTD into it.

Hi

I really appreciate for your response.

Can you share any document about your response? I need it to present my contractor.

Thank you.

Hi,

Below is the cisco doc for Firepower/FTD.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/roadmap/firepower-licenseroadmap.html

Smart vs. Classic

Licenses Firepower feature licenses depend on your device type:

• Smart Licenses are available forFirepower Threat Defense andFirepower Threat Defense Virtual devices.

• Classic licenses are available for 7000 and 8000Series, ASA FirePOWER, and NGIPSv devices. Devices that use     Classic licenses are sometimes referred to as Classic devices.

• A single Firepower Management Center can manage both Classic and Smart Licenses.
