Same subnet, different mask

Little Bunny

Hello

On one of our FWSMs we have an object group for 10.30.0.0/16 and another for 10.30.0.0/24. We would like to give them different names, however every time I update one entry, the other changes automatically to the same name. Is this expected behaviour and is there a way around it?

Thanks

Amy

Hi,

It should work and there seems to be some misconfiguration at your end:-

My Test:-

object-group network vibhor
 network-object 10.30.0.0 255.255.0.0
object-group network vibhor1
 network-object 10.30.0.0 255.255.255.0

Thanks and Regards,

Vibhor Amrodia

Hi Vibhor

Thanks for your assistance. I tried your config but instead of naming the subnets it just created new object-groups and put the subnets inside them. Please see 'address_lookup.jpg' attached.

I would like to just name the subnets so that when they are looked up in ASDM they have a name. I've also attached a screenshot of the Network Objects page where you can see that the subnets still have no name in the 'Name' column.

Thanks

Amy

Hi Amy,

How about this:-

name 20.20.20.0 vibhor

object-group network vibhor
 network-object vibhor 255.255.255.0
object-group network vibhor1
 network-object vibhor 255.255.255.0

Thanks and Regards,

Vibhor Amrodia

Hi Vibhor

I tried the above but no luck. Both names were still the same. I need to do what the following would achieve in theory:

name 10.30.0.0 255.255.0.0 AMY

name 10.30.0.0 255.255.255.0 AMY2

Thanks

Amy
