SFTP connection

Hi, on a Mac computer I am trying to connect from the datacenter to an external server using different SFTP applications and getting different errors e.g. connection reset by peer, connection reset, etc. It does work randomly with some PCs. The connection seems to work fine from the same Mac when located at a branch site connected over DMVPN. Any thoughts are welcome,
