SourceFire/FireSIGHT User Agent Won't Open on Windows 2008 Server

I have downloaded v 2.2-18 of the Sourcefire User Agent to use with my FireSIGHT Management Center. I installed the agent on a Windows 2008 R2 server. When I try to open the agent to configure it the program crashes with the exception:

Application: Configure Sourcefire User Agent.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.TypeInitializationException
Stack:
   at SFCommon.DB.GetSystemSettingsCache()
   at GUI.UserAgent.LoadConfig()
   at GUI.UserAgent..ctor()
   at GUI.Program.Main()

I verified that I have at least .NET Framework 4.0 installed (does this with v4.0 and 4.5.2). The program works on a straight Windows 7 machine. Anyone else seen this issue or can anyone tell me what I need to change to get this to work?

Thanks.

Hi,

Did you manage to successfully install SQL Server Compact 3.5 as well as .NET v4 prior to installation of the agent? I've seen similar errors where the installer did not automatically download and install SQL CP.

Thanks

Hi,

When the Sourcefire User Agent says "Sourcefire Active Directory User Agent Configuration has stopped working", the Mircosoft compact SQL server is not install.

The zipped file "Sourcefire_USer_Agent_2.2-18" contains "setup.exe" and "setup.msi".

The "setup.exe" contains the Microsoft compact SQL and you have to run this first. Then run the "setup.msi" and it should work.

Does anyone have a fix for this issue? I have reinstalled the agent, SQL server compact and .net framework and the issue is still happening. Cant get the agent to start

Hi,

Can you try to delete : C:\CiscoUserAgent.sdf file and try to run the user agent once again and see if that works.

Did you resolve this?

I have the same issue with User Agent 2.2 and 2.3

I found the error and solved the issue.

C:\CiscoUserAgent.sdf ran full at 4GB (this is a bug in version 2.2 and when you have "debug" enabled)

I deleted the file and upgraded to User Agent 2.3, and have not expirienced the problem since.
