upgrade license

Hi everyone,

I want to confirm if the upgrade license (ASA5505-SW-10-UL=) is backward compactible with PIX 501 firewall device?

though pix 501is end of life bit i want to verify if the upgrade license for asa5505 will work with it?

the licenses for the ASA will not work on the PIX and viceversa. They are different devices and they have different features. They do have similarities in the fact that they also have incremental inside user licenses but the part number is different.

Sam,

The licenses are always SN number specific. The license generated for a specific SN would never be installed on another device, so even if you install this license on any other ASA 5505 it would not work, leave alone PIX device. And yes licenses for PIX and ASA are different.
