I'm want to upgrade my pix firewall 515 from 6.1 to 6.3. I'm wondering if the config would stay intact or will that all be lost? and also if i copy config, could i just put that back if it gets changed?
sorry, i'm new o this. thank you ahead of time.

Your config should stay fine. However as a good practice I like to make a copy of the config, activation key and old OS just in case. Better safe than sorry.
Hope that helps.

For backing up the config
write net: [[server_ip]:[filename]]
for copying the licence key:
type Show version and copy it to notepad the portion that says:
Running Activation Key: 0x...... This is your licence key

so it will be like:
write net [tftpserver1:configfor6_1]
also how do you save old o/s?
