virtual FMC serial number

Hi, 

 I would like to know how vFMCs are registered for support contract. Is there a serial number option? I read in an older post that vFMCs do not have serial number. Not sure if this still true!

Hi,

That is still the case. It will show serial number as None

But you can get support based on service contract number.

I am also facing a similar issue—my vFMC is showing the serial number as “None.” In this case, I need to get a SmartNet for my vFMC, but Cisco is still asking for the serial number or instance number.

Could you please advise on how to obtain the serial number or instance number?

Do you have the FMC registered to smart licensing portal? I think you should be able to find an identifier there?

@abdulhakkeem FMCv does not have a serial number. The closest equivalent is the UUID (Universally Unique IDentifier). Cisco should not require a serial number for a virtual appliance. Your reseller should be able to purchase a software support contract without it.
