(Design Module)Wireless Part.

  • In this article, we are going to talk about Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center design Module, Wireless Part.
  • Cisco DNA Center gives us the flexibility and scalability to configure multiple fabric sites and manage all of them even LAN or WLan through DNAC (Centralization Point).
  • The continuity of IT operations is the basis of today’s business environment. Almost every single decision made by business is either based on an IT data or done using the IT platform. And so, the Design, security, availability, and performance of the IT infrastructure are the key foundation of a solid business and service environment.

  • We are going to write about the wireless part in the DNAC

   Through the Wireless tap, you can create the Guest Wireless, Dynamic interfaces, Wireless radio frequency,

  • How to create SSID for enterprise network:

         Design > Network Settings > Wireless

  • create SSID name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID).
  • Checkbox for the Fast Lane to enable FastLane.

Select the Type of Enterprise Network: Voice and Data or Data Only.

  • Enable Broadcast SSID
  • Select one Wireless Option:
  • Dual-band operation (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)—The WLAN is created for both 2.4 and 5 GHz and this by default.
  • 5 GHz only this is to support for 5 GHz only.
  • 2.4 GHz only this is to support for 2.4 GHz only

After choose the Level of the security for the SSID:

  • WPA2 Enterprise: This provides high security by EAP to auth and authorize through Radius.
  • WPA2 Personal: This provides a medium level of security using a pre-shared key.
  • Open: this allows anyone to connect without a password.

NOTE: cisco will add the next generation of Wi-Fi security which is WPA3

Fast Transition (802.11r) this for Transition Roaming. Over the Air Intra Controller Roam.

Now we are going to create a wireless profile

esign > Network Settings > Wireless > Wireless Profile >Add21.JPG

Enter Wireless Profile name

Fabric and choose the site for the SSID.

  • Create SSID for Guest Wireless:

       Design > Network Settings > Wireless > Guest Wireless >Add

  • create SSID name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID).
  • Check box for the Fast Lane to enable FastLane.

Select the Type of Enterprise Network: Voice and Data or Data Only.

  • Enable Broadcast SSID

After choose the Level of the security for the SSID:

  • Web policy: Redirect to web portal to authentication.
  • Open: this allows anyone to connect without a password.

For authentication we have 3 options:

  • ISE authentication.
  • Web authentication.
  • Web pass-through

 

Next step create wireless profile:

Design > Network Settings > Wireless > Wireless Profile >Add

Next step we will customize the Authentication Portal;

Create radio frequency:

Design > Network Settings > Wireless >RF>Add

Create CMX: this for mobile devices which connect with wireless to generate analytics and deliver relevant services to customers on their mobile devices
