Live Questions

Q:How does the UCSE compute module factor into this new platform?

A: UCS-E modules are currently only for C8300 platforms. Single wide SM slot is necessary for hosting the same. C8200 can not host the same.

Q:Where do I deploy the Cisco Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platforms in comparison to the Cisco Catalyst 8500 Series Edge Platforms?

A:C8300s are purpose-built for modular Branch use-cases and C8500s are purpsoe-built for high throughput aggregation use-cases. The platforms can be used based on capacity demands and connectivity options available.

Q: Would it be possible to obtain out-of-band access to router cli via FXS NIM module over POT line when in controller mode?

A: No, unfortunately not. They are strictly for voice lines.

Q:Is the only option for out-of-band access using a pots line to use an external terminal server with a modem and serial port?

A:Yes, you would need to use an external modem + the Async/Console port on the router.

Q:Is Cisco Firepower a supported service on Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platforms running XE SD-WAN?

A: Cisco Firepower is not a signed app for C8300 as such. However, it can be used along with C8200uCPE as service VNF.
