Description
Virtual Circuit (VC)
Complete Definition
Virtual Circuit (VC) is one of the ways of transmission over the internet.
Transmission of packets in Packet Switching happens in two ways- Datagram Switching or Virtual Circuits. Virtual Circuits provide a set path between the two destinations for the packets to travel.
Unlike the datagram switching the path here is fixed and hence the extra information regarding the destination is not required. The transmission is more reliable as the vulnerability of losing the data is reduced.
