Hello everyone,

The Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Product Management team is proud to announce the general availability of cloud-delivered Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, a new deployment option for Catalyst SD-WAN. This is our latest, simplest, and most efficient deployment option for the Catalyst SD-WAN fabric. Prior to this announcement, we provided on-premises as well as Cisco hosted options wherein customers either have full or shared ownership responsibility of the Catalyst SD-WAN fabric.

With this new cloud-delivered offering, we are taking our next step in the evolution of Catalyst SD-WAN with the intent to make it more consumable and easily scalable for our customers. Cloud-delivered Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN offers an automated solution delivery with Cisco overseeing the lifecycle management of the SD-WAN fabric, and provides rich, actionable, end-to-end insights while lowering the overall total cost of ownership (TCO).

Why cloud-delivered?

When we speak to our customers and prospects, we frequently hear that you want to be freed from the operational responsibilities of the SD-WAN fabric and make it easily scalable and agile. You want to focus on business outcomes without having to worry about the day-to-day operations.

With this solution, we reduce your operational responsibilities, and you’ll have a fully featured Catalyst SD-WAN fabric ready to use in no time.

What is cloud-delivered Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN?

Cloud-delivered Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN brings simplicity to Catalyst SD-WAN fabric operations. Customer would only need to manage the edge devices at branch or remote locations.

Cisco will own most of the operational responsibility. Our Cloud Operations (CloudOps) team will handle all SD-WAN Fabric life cycle management including…

  • Fabric creation
  • Single sign-on provisioning
  • Infrastructure monitoring
  • Fabric upgrades
  • Controller certificate installations and renewals
  • Integrated analytics

With our current Cisco hosted or on-prem offerings, these tasks are the customers’ responsibility. However, we are committed to meeting your business and technical requirements wherever you are, so if there is a use-case for these existing deployments these options are still available and fully supported.

How do we do it?

The new bundled cloud-delivered Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN SKUs will allow partners and customers to order and deploy the solution very easily. It’s available for Cisco partners to order from Cisco Commerce Workplace (CCW) and through Public Cloud marketplaces on AWS and Azure. Very soon we will also bring in guided workflows for ordering on Cisco Commerce Workplace (CCW).

We’ve reduced the provisioning time from weeks to hours with these simple steps:

  1. Subscribe and place an order.
  2. Onboard and deploy the fabric.
  3. Operate

View this video to see a demo of the end-to-end process in action and how quickly your users can begin taking advantage of the most widely deployed SD-WAN solution in the market!

Feel free to reach to your Cisco sales representative for any questions regarding how to order cloud-delivered Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN.

So Cisco is hosting a tenant based version of the controllers ? Or are there any other "tweaks" ?

Hello Cisco SD-WAN team,

Since the beginning of this year, we have been extensively using Cisco U and various Cisco SD-WAN labs to deepen our understanding of SD-WAN fabric operations. This experience has given us the confidence to proceed with ordering "Cloud Delivered" SD-WAN for multiple sites.

However, during the creation of our fabric in the Cisco Cloud, we discovered that the version of the controller, specifically the "Manager," is outdated (v20.09, over a year old). This version lacks key features introduced in v20.13 and v20.14, which were highlighted in Cisco U, particularly the Configuration Groups workflow for dual-router setups. Unfortunately, with the current cloud version, only single-router site configurations "workflow" is presented (vs Dual-Router site setup in v20.13).

Additionally, we’ve noticed that the cloud solution is not at feature parity with on-premise deployments, which is causing discrepancies and confusion in our planning and deployment strategies.

Before we proceed with configuring and deploying the SD-WAN fabric to our sites & Edges, we would appreciate clarification on when Cisco plans to update the cloud controllers to v20.13+. This update is critical for ensuring consistency in our deployment approach.
