Chapter 2 – Install/Run PDART Tool
The Cisco PDART (Prime Infrastructure to DNA Center Assessment & Readiness Tool) analyzes a Cisco Prime Infrastructure deployment and assesses whether Catalyst Center supports the current deployment.
PDART summarizes the deployment in a PDF report and performs certain health checks, without affecting any of the devices. The PDF is autogenerated by the tool and summarizes all the checks. No sensitive information is captured.
PDART can be executed via the UI using this method. The PDART executable is part of a patch file (UBF or the Updated Bundle File) that needs to be downloaded from Cisco.com, uploaded to your Prime Instance and then installed.
The following are the detailed steps.
Step 1. Download PDART UBF
Identify your software version and download the matching UBF from Cisco.com. Download the file starting with 'DnacPreCheckASSESMENTUbf' (CCO login is required to download the file).
In this example, we will download PDART for Prime 3.8
Step 2. Install PDART Tool
Upload the UBF file from your local system and install it (Cisco Prime reload required). Once the file is downloaded to the local system, the UBF file can be uploaded and installed via the UI.
Note: Please make sure you are logged in as a root user.
From the main menu, navigate to the Software Update page. Click on Administration > Licenses and Software Updates > Software Update to upload the PDART UBF to install PDART tool.
Click on 'upload' to upload the PDART UBF file to Cisco Prime.
Browse through the local computer to choose the required UBF file and click 'OK'.
Once the file is uploaded, click on the 'Install' button to install the UBF.
Click 'Yes' in the pop-up window to restart Cisco Prime and install the UBF.
Cisco Prime will restart and will be out of service for 15 to 30 minutes.
Step 3. Run PDART Tool
Navigate to the PDART screen and execute PDART from here
Once the UBF is installed, navigate to the following URL which will bring up the PDART main Page. Click on 'RUN PDART TOOL' to execute PDART.
https://<Cisco Prime IP Address>/webacs/pdart.jsp
The following screenshots will guide the user through the execution of PDART.
PDART takes about 3-5 minutes to complete in most cases but in a scaled setup it might take up to 10 minutes to complete.
The following options will show up once PDART has completed execution.
Sample Report
The image includes the first page of the report which is a summary of all the checks executed. Subsequent pages include more details on the checks executed.
