Hi Everyone,

I  have been encountering a lot of issues with our clients with regards to properly installing the driver for the Cisco USB console cable.

We've encountered people having trouble: intermittent to no connection on their Cisco USB console cable. So, to help everyone out, especially the ones who do not know yet. Here's a document I've created.

I know a lot of people already know this one, but to those who do not, hope it helps :D

Didn't even know there was a need to install the cisco_usbconsole driver until a search on the Internet. Nice contribution!

What you could do is supply a link to the driver software or attach it to your post - there are many left hanging without the driver software to begin with?! Thank you

Hey @dayjom111 , i know this is quite a late reply, but i did provide instructions. You just go to any download page of any switch that supports the USB console, it should be there. The reason why i didnt link it in the document is because you would need a valid and privileged Cisco login to even download it. If you're a custom of cisco you should have one. If not, ask your Cisco device provider.

Years later...

I had some trouble locating the download because they had three names for the driver in the documentation I was reading. 3.1 is the latest I've seen.

@Jon Paulsen I too was having much difficulty finding the driver as everything I looked at said you had to find the driver at Cisco for your device (mine is an ASA 5506 which is no longer under support) leading me to believe that there were device-specific console cable drivers.  That doesn't look to be the case though.  After much confusion and digging, I finally located and downloaded the driver you linked and have my fingers crossed that it works when my 'just ordered' USB A to Mini B console cable arrives.  Your comment and the original post by @LJ Gabrillo makes me feel a bit more confident.  Thanks!
