Some customer of mine uses opendns as default resolver.
For some reason he's unable to resolve the domain name: wow.poste.it.
He gets a SERVFAIL answer, the same domain is resolved properly from other DNSes around (like google's).
Checking at the cache (cachecheck.opendns.com) it looks like that most of the name servers are able to handle the request, while a few fails with SERVFAIL message.
It is possible to know specifically what went wrong ? I checked the domain with many tools, like :
and all of them agree that the domain is OK (except for the lack of MX record and www and some minor warning about the IP addresses belonging to the same subnet/AS)
What kind of checks do the opendns servers on the domains before the actual name resolution?
The domain itself doesn't point to any actual service and IP, for the moment.
Thanks

There could be a few reasons that the domain is getting a "servfail" response. Would you please open a support ticket with us, so one of our Support Engineers can take a look. Once you have created the ticket respond to this forum thread and I will escalate the ticket.
