Utube and youtubei.googleapis.com are they the same?

Hi

I see the domain youtubei.googleapis.com listed as visited alot on my network. I also see just utube.com. What is the difference between the two? Is youtubei.googleapis.com the same as visiting utube?

If I block just youtubei.googleapis.com and not utube.com will utube still be accessed? As I do want utube to be used but not the other domain that I do not recognise
( youtubei.googleapis.com )

Is there a way I can restrict adult content on Utube from the DNS setting? Does youtubei.googleapis.com refer more to adult content of utube?

Many thanks for your help.

It seems you don’t need to care about utube.com. Nothing is hosted on this domain. You are immediately redirected to www.youtube.com. And youtubei.googlapis.com is one of the many domains where YouTube content is being hosted on. If you block it, parts of YouTube will be blocked and not function. If you want to block YouTube, you simply block youtube.com.

So, utube.com and youtubei.googleapis.com are two different domains, both owned by YouTube.

For filtering out only adult content use SafeSearch.
