I have a following error message on switches WS-C3550-24PWR-SMI. The current version 12.1(13)EA1c.

%ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_ERR: Controller error, Controller nu

mber 4: has been reset unexpectedly or s2w bus err

I didn't found exactly explaination on this message.

Symptom:

The following message is displayed on a Catalyst 3550-24PWR:

%ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_ERR: Controller error, Controller number 3: has been reset unexpectedly or s2w bus err

The interfaces might go down as a result, and the user must issue the interface commands

shutdown and no shutdown on the affected interfaces.

Condition:

The Catalyst 3550-24PWR received an Electro Static Discharge (ESD).

Workaround:

Make sure that the devices are correctly grounded.

Also, version 12.1(14)EA1 or later provides an ESD recovering mechanism.

Please upgrade to at least 12.1(14)EA1.
