Getting mixed info from cisco.com and pre-sales on this. I need to know wether or not the network module nm-1fe-fx (100mb/s fiber wic for a 3600) can be configured with sub-interfaces and 802.1q vlan support on these sub-ifs so that the router can do inter-vlan routing between this fiber card and its other interfaces. Pre-sales says it can, however they forwarded me a quote off the products page which I am interpreting to say that the fx module can not do this and only the tx module can.
If the fx module can not do this, does anyone know of any caveats for putting a fiber to copper transceiver on a fiber trunk feed coming off a catalyst to put it onto copper and send it into a regular fe interface on the router?
Thanks,
Eric Stanfield

Hello!
The FE-TX does support VLANs and the FE-FX dont.

You can use a FE interface and use IOS IP Plus feature to fix dot.1q support against some Catalyst switch. A tips is if you use a mediaconverter for fiber-to-copper, config the ports static for speed and duplex on the trunk ports (router-switch).
