We have some strange problems in the last time with our catalyst 3524XL. Most of the clients connected to this switch at a speed of 100Mb/Sec (autosensing)are having lots of problems (slow file transfer, files are opened as read only and more). We can see at the affected ports lots of dropped packets and errors. When we force those ports to work with 10Mb HF everything works fine again, none of these problems occurs under this condition. Has anybody an idea? We are having an "advanced replacement" maintenance-contract and I want to check everything before changing the machine. Thanks i.A. for your help

We have about 45 3500 and 2950 series switches. We ALWAYS set speed and duplex on switch and device connecting to switch. Try setting both ends to 100 full and see. Autosensing can cause trouble.

We also tried this, it only works with 10 HF. No other setting has worked. Before we noticed the problem, the autosense setting on both sides has worked for over 2 years (The other 4 3524/3548) still works with autosensing on both ends. So it must be a machine related error. BigBrother
