On Cisco Catalyst switches, there is an sc0 interface. I know what the interface is for, etc but I'd like to know what 'sc' stands for literally. As in the e0 interface on routers where the 'e' stands for ethernet. I assume 'sc' stands for switch console or system console but would like this confirmed. If anyone knows, please post...thanks.

Hi,
it's always called "in-band (sc0) interface".
Even in the oldest documentation (see http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat5000/rel_2_1/sccrc5k/comref.htm#2879).
Regards,
Milan
