i want to send data through async port of one router to another router's async port where it connecting to a server's serial port.

Can i set the router so that it can route all data coming in from the async port to another router's async port?

this is the senario:

I have a server's serial port direct connect to a 2509 router's async port using octopus cable. Then this router have to route all data that the server sent to another 2509 router's async port, where this async port also connected with a server's serial port.

Can anyone help me on this? I need to do this because i don't want this data to go through the firewall.

Please help!!!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I don't see a problem with this. To the router, an async port is just another way to route packets. Assign an IP address to async port, set up your routing and you should be OK. Basic 'traceroute' and 'pings' should be able to clear up any problems you might encounter. Of course, your server needs to be able to 'IP' across the serial port. Default routes will be important on the server, so pay close attention to them.

I've never done this, does anyone have any other suggestions?
