Sun NIS

We're big sun servers and clients shop. The problem is that NIS is not able to go across multiple vlans on a layer 3 switch. I have enable the forward-udp protcol sunrpc but it still doesn't work. Is anybody else ever run into this issue?

The client is sending the broadcasts for searching the NIS server using dst port 111 but the switch is not forwarding these to the helper address configured under the client vlan interface, thus there is no response and the nis process fails.

The inbound interface ( client) can be on any of the vlans however the NIS Server is on any of the VLAN3 (server vlan , outbound from the clients/switches perspective for NIS broadcast request from the client on a vlan other than vlan).
