I'm looking to conserve my available SPAN sessions by utilizing network taps for some key IDS locations. Can anyone point me to a vendor or two that they've used for 10/100(/1000) taps?
Thanks!

Bill,
My company recently purchased some taps to dual-home some IDS systems that we have running.
I believe we got taps from Datacom. Here's the link if you want to check them out.

We ended up using NetOptics for our 10/100 taps. The biggest issue with most taps is that they output 2 half-duplex connections and depending on what you want to look at, you still would need either SPAN or some equivalent to recombine them into one data stream...
I wish Datacom's SingleStream had been available then (almost a year ago).. http://www.datacomsystems.com/datacom/prod/taps/eth/singlestream.asp - it may have made a difference which tap we used :-)
NetOptic's equivalent is available now http://www.netoptics.com/products/product_family_details.asp?cid=4&pid=3&Section=products&menuitem=4 but wasn't at the time we bought it.

Hi Nick,
Did the taps solution work well for you? Did you experience loss of alert traffic or any problem that you can share?
Since we have 3 devices (one IDS, one network sniffer plus another monitoring device) that need to use span port, is it possible to use the Net Optics innovative 10/100 Port Aggregator Taps?
Thanks,
Zenna.
