On the IDS behind the firewall, I would like to create a filter to exclude all signatures that have a source address from my server's subnet (filter all supposed attacks coming from my servers). My questions is whether the IDS still capture alarms an individual server that is part of an "include" filter? (that comes after the exclude filter for the server subnet.)
I would like to create a signature class for FTP, Telnet, SSH, and other common sessions (just to recognize the traffic - is this possible? if so, what signature #s?). For example, I want to exclude all traffic with a source address in the server range, and then specifically include an alarm when a FTP session is started to a web server, or an off campus SSH session to another server.
Can I do this?
