Experts,

I don't know if this is the right forum regarding my concern but if it's not just point me to the correct list. Here is my concern ... how can I put configuration comments on my Cisco routers and switches ?

Please tell me also if this is applicable to all versions of Cisco IOSes.

Thanks,

Deejay

Unfortunately, there is not a way to make the router store comments in the running config. You can use !to enter a commented line at anytime, but it is not saved.

You could comment your configs using ! on the TFTP/FTP server, and move it to startup. The running config would not have the comments but the startup would. Of course, this would only work until the next time you write mem.

ACLs can be commented using the [remark] command.

Thank you very much for your reply.
