We need to change the hostname of a 6500 series router running native IOS. After changing the hostname, should we also regenerate our SSH/RSA keys? If we don't regenerate the keys, will this cause any problems?
I believe changing the hostname causes SSH to break on a PIX, but changing the hostname did not seem to break SSH on a test IOS box.

Yes, that's correct changing the hostname won't break the ssh when using a nios firewall

I have been recently bit by this.
My experience on IOS routers is that if you change the host name that it does indeed break SSH until you regenerate the keys.

Heh. 2 answers, 2 opposite experiences. I think there may not be one definite answer to this, but it seems like a best practice to regenerate the keys when changing the hostname. That way, all the bases are covered.
