Hi Jay,
I work in support for another content delivery provider that you're probably
unfamiliar with. I come from a hardware background although our solution is
software based and uses a globally distributed network. I am very familiar
with the way the Arrowpoint 11800 switch handles non SSL traffic as I have
supported them for over a year now. It's a slick box and I'm very happy
with it's performance. Other Cisco personnel have been very helpful in the
past with any questions I have had and I applaud you all.
My question is about how your equipment can or cannot process SSL content in
a dynamic page assembly environment. I want to use your hardware solution
to front end some of our servers, but we dynamically assemble pages on the
edge (2 or 3 hops) from the web server. We use the new open source ESI
(edge side includes) technology. When a user uses the HTTP Post method to
supply his login information to the origin, the returned page seems to get
lost between the origin server and our edge server. Our logs show the Post
outgoing and the origin server sees the hit and makes a response via SSL.
The problem is that the data (usually an account summary page) doesn't make
it through our load balancing/content delivery switch. I have verified this
with a packet sniff and am quite puzzled. I don't have any customers using
this dynamic page assembly technology for SSL yet, but I'm sure I will in
the near future.
Can you confirm weather or not your box will support dynamic page assembly
and if you do, how do I enable it?
Any suggestions as to what action I can take will be appreciated.
